Chart Feed – 05.07.10

The brilliant new Scissor Sisters‘ album Night Work enters the Australian chart at #10 this week. Never mind if local radio is side-stepping around ‘Fire With Fire’, watch the album take off when they start touring. Night Work debuts at #2 in the UK this week.

Miley Cyrus Can’t Be Tamed album debuts at #4 here this week behind new releases from Parkway Drive (Deep Blue #2) and The Cat Empire (Cinema #3).

Robyn‘s Body Talk Pt. 1 drops to #27 on our digital albums chart. Kudos to all the downloaders because unlike them, I shelled out $17 for a physical copy that resembles that of a burnt CD package.

Local radio’s love for Charice‘s ‘Pyramid’ has resulted in the track’s decent chart debut at #77 here this week. Elsewhere The Killers‘ frontman Brandon Flowers sees his first solo single ‘Crossfire’ enter at #62.

Kelly Rowland‘s ‘Commander’ has edged into the UK Top 10 this week, rising to #9. She just dropped her second single ‘Rose Coloured Glasses’ over in the States. If there’s any justice, that’ll do what ‘Commander’ couldn’t do and cross over to the main Billboard chart. ‘Commander’ is currently #1 on the US Dance/Club chart.

Kelis‘ ‘4th of July (Fireworks)’ has risen to #82 in the UK this week. Her mind-blowing electro pop album Flesh Tone hits stores this Friday in Australia. New releases this month from Kylie, Scissor Sisters – and now Mama Kelis – is sending me broke.

Eminem‘s Recovery album is reigining supreme on top of the US, UK and Australian charts this week. Elsewhere, our gurl Sia‘s We Are Born has debuted at #37 in the States finishing ahead of Macy Gray‘s new release The Sellout at #38.

Maroon 5‘s ‘Misery’ has entered the US Billboard chart at #44. I still can’t believe Robert “Mutt” Lange, the man behind Shania Twain‘s hit career and The Corrs‘ frivolous In Blue album is responsible for this. You just can’t go wrong, can you?

Sara Bareilles‘ new one ‘King of Anything’ debuts at #59 in the US this week. Her last album Little Voice has been on my “to re-discover” pile for months but knowing my general nonchalance towards anything Sara Bareilles, the new album will probably drop before I get around to it. The new LP, Kaleidoscope Heart, is due 7 September.

  1. Fire with Fire is awful. Rhyming Fire with Desire is one of the laziest and most repeated lyrics I know and is only funny when overused in Eurovision.

  2. Don’t talk to me about the Cyrus Virus i find myself liking cant be tamed even with every indie fibre in me says no but every pop fibre says yes.
Also i kind of like the whole burnt CD thing with Body Talk Pt 1 i thought it might be a swipe at the whole illegal download business

    • I can totally appreciate the artistic direction she’s going for with “Body Talk Pt.1” but seriously, just a folded page? :-( Anyways, I think the 3D vid for ‘Don’t Fucking Tell Me What To Do’ has MORE than made up for the CD packaging. As for Cyrus Virus (nice one!) I’ve listened to the album from start to end, can’t say I’ll ever do that again. “Breakout” was definitley more listenable… I still get a little misty-eyed hearing ‘Bottom of The Ocean’.

      • That i agree on the folded page did annoy me i was hoping for something a little more then ‘texta print’ going off the cover image, I mean a SIA-esque poster would have been nice. Hmm maybe its just the 24hr Cyrus Virus for me then.

  3. Sara B’s new song the King of Anything is great and deserves to go top 10 imo – it is much better than lovesong
