Adele “21” Album Details

It’s been two years since British soul singer Adele broke out with her Grammy-snatching debut 19 and now the world can breathe easy knowing its next chapter is ready for consumption.

21 – as it is aptly titled – is a catalogue of experiences colouring this next chapter in Adele‘s life.

“It’s different from 19, it’s about the same things but in a different light. I deal with things differently now. I’m more patient, more honest, more forgiving and more aware of my own flaws, habits and principles. Something that comes with age I think. So fittingly this record is called 21,” said Adele.

The bulk of the album was made in picturesque Malibu with legendary producer Rick Rubin (see CV: Johnny Cash and Red Hot Chilli Peppers) with several contributions from Paul Epworth (producer for Bloc Party and Florence) and there’s even one Ryan Tedderproduction on file, titled ‘Turning Tables’.

They haven’t confirmed the tracklisting as yet but the album’s first single ‘Rolling In The Deep’ – described by the singer as a “dark bluesy disco tune” – will be released on 16 January in the UK.

UPDATE

Adele has just uploaded the full studio version of ‘Rolling In The Deep’. Get excited, peeps! This sounds very promising.

Footnotes:

21 will be out in the UK on 24 January and 22 February in the US. No Australian date has been issued as yet. Practically wetting myself in anticipation.

  1. Someone get a paper bag I need to hyperventilate, its too far away and the fact Epworth is involved is just awesome.

I hope 21 fairs better than 19 its such a great album but so underated at least here in Oz.

    • I know! It really should’ve done better.

But it’s OK, it got out to the people that mattered. Commercial ubiquity wouldn’t suit this type of artist here. I ABSOLUTELY CAN’T WAIT EITHER. That woman’s voice does something to me, I swear. I cry, I ache… etc.

      • This is true girl not only did she get her Grammy she took out the critics choice at the brit awards and topped the BBC’s Sound Of 2008 (Ellie Goulding the only other to win both in the same year)

Yes that voice its just so good like you want to pull an Ursular the sea witch on her and steal that golden voice and keep it in a jar.
