How have I never blogged about a JLS video until now?
Here the boyband wonder drops the promo for their latest single ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ with the best futuristic green screen sorcery by a British pop group since, I don’t know, Spice Girls‘ ‘Holler’? [Editor’s note: excuse me, Limmy? What about ‘Untouchable’ or ‘Wear My Kiss’? I am disappointed in you.]
Australians are yet to be serviced some JLS magic but frankly, it seems like this new batch of boyband mania is only starting and stopping in the UK. These lads ooze American crossover potential like you won’t believe but knowing local airwaves, we probably won’t touch it until they break the States. Typical.
Here are three highlights in the ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ promo. Run and tell a work friend:
1) Boyband pose dancing.
No matter what they say, it’s still cute. Mmmkay?
2) Levitating video vixen.
And you thought Princess Delta Goodrem was the only one capable? Speaking of the scrag, where the hell has she been? I know she ain’t still endorsing soy milk to pay the rent. The last time we caught sight of her was when she having this little domestic with Brian.
3) Poetic and symbolic stuff.
The classic “boxed in” scenario: symbol of oppression or being a prisoner of love that he’s got to break out of? Brilliantly poetic stuff.
‘Eyes Wide Shut’ is the band’s third single from their sophomore Outta This World, which has sold over 500,000 copies in the UK since its release in November. The album features productions from DEEKAY (team behind Sugababes‘ Change), Stargate (Rihanna, Ne-Yo, etc.) and Lucas Secon (the man behind Kylie‘s ‘Get Outta My Way’).
