X Factor soul siren Rebecca Ferguson is said to have landed a record deal but not with Simon Cowell‘s Syco label.
According to The Sun, the 2010 series runner-up has been offered a deal with Epic Records (a subdivision of Sony Music and home to show alumni JLS and Olly Murs) whereas her fellow finalists Cher Lloyd, One Direction – and obviously, winner Matt Cardle – have reportedly inked deals with Syco.
It’s said that the Epic team is sourcing Duffy and Corinne Bailey Rae-style tracks for Becca now. What a no brainer!
Let’s hope it’s all good news for the girl and she’ll drop a classy record soon, supported by a string of stylish music videos.
Update – 23 January:
There’s been some rather telling tweets between Rebecca and Epic Records artiste Paloma Faith today. More hints that Becca has indeed been signed to the label?
It all started with Paloma’s tweet:
“Should I be officially welcoming you? Tell me tell me? I’m so excited!”
To which, the Liverpool soul siren replies:
“Hi I’m really excited!, couldn’t have asked for better people to work with ill probably c u soon ;) xxx [sic]”
And finally, we gleefully clap along with the ladies as Paloma responds with:
“Yay!!!I’m so happy too.we will have lots of fun!hurray! [sic]”
Reminisce on Rebecca’s X Factor moments du jour.
Is it too much to ask that she side steps into a bit of dance music too? That performance of ‘Show Me Love’ was defining.
