The true soul sista of the Sugababes dynasty – Mutya Buena – teases us once again with another superfluous collaboration.
We all know what she’s capable of from the lick of her 2007 debut Real Girl but what’s the harm in another flirtation with dance music? Here she teams up with up-and-coming English DJ Paul Morrell (who has collaborated with Sonique and 4Strings) for a pleading club stomper.
Check out the hot mess in this video. Colour it every shade of Rimmel wrong:
Feed Limmy verdict: Bounce snap
Mighty snap = this is a hit.
Bounce snap = instantly likeable.
Lightbulb snap = you will need a moment to get into this.
Nonchalant snap = need I say more?
No snap = please cease and decease.
Despite all the drama and bad blood, Sugababes is still firmly placed as one of my favourite girlbands but my preferred line-up’s probably v.2 featuring Mutya, Keisha and Heidi. Nothing against Amelle, of course. Her vocals can’t be fucked with. But the harmonies were tighter and the band’s sonics were kookier when Lady MutMut was in the building.
Mutya announced three months ago that she’s quitting the music biz to pursue a career in child psychology. Jaws remain dropped. It’s baffling why someone with this much talent can’t catch a break in the industry and it’s even sadder to see her passion dim.
