Sophie Ellis-Bextor ‘Starlight’ + Interview (Live on Koko Pop)

Oh sweetheart, what’s going on right here?

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has finally got her business in check to launch her Make A Scene album and this is not the visual I had in mind for her.

The new record ‘Starlight’ is a wistful intergalactic mid-tempo wonder that completely complements Sophie‘s style in the way her underrated single ‘Bittersweet’ did. In saying that, it really doesn’t demand detracting flash choreography but what it does require is an elegant presentation and performance to boot, and sadly this isn’t cutting it for me.

Take a look at her warble and tell us what you think:

The stunning English pop siren has basically no business looking like a science teacher spicing it up for an after-seminar party. The bob and honey blonde colour is making her look a bit washed out, especially if we’re comparing it to the understandably dated Make A Scene album photo shoot.

Gurl, get it together for the next performance and step it up in the video. Please.

There’s also the interview on Koko Pop, if you fancy a quick squeeze:

She is fond of having a “boogie”, isn’t she?

Speaking of which, if you’ve just caught Sophie nostalgia, reminisce with me on her finer live performances here at the massive T4 on The Beach: ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’ and ‘Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer’.

She shimmies in the breakdown for ‘Groovejet’!

‘Starlight’ will be released in the UK on 30 May. Why the hold out, boo? Let them have it now that you’re pushing the track on TV and watch it climb up the charts as you amp up your promo towards the all-important album launch.

Listen to me, telling Sophie Ellis-Bextor how to run her bidness.

Make A Scene is out in the UK on 6 June. Fingers crossed for an Aussie release.
