Leak Report: Jordin Sparks ‘I Am Woman’

Young Jordin Sparks is a grown ass woman.

Here comes the American Idol starlet, kicking down doors and stomping the wooden board floors with a prosaically anthemic new single that sounds approximately four years too late.

I absolutely adore Jordin‘s Battlefield album but despite being a crazy talented warbler, let’s face it – her vocals really lack identity. When you sit down with your fellow gays over yum cha and Ms Sparks somehow comes up in conversation, no one ever gets wet dreaming up a sound for her.

She just seems like the kind of artist who would borrow whatever is on the Top 40 catalogue. There are game changers and bitches who run their own lane in the industry, then there are girls like Jordin who just sing good.

‘I Am Woman’ gives a promising start where you’re kinda lured in with all these mechanical, electronic noises and then, boom! All the sudden, it’s ghetto fabulous pop beats with neck-snapping sassy lyrics that sound like Raven Symone channeling Beyonce for a Disney program.

The track was co-written by Jordin and Ryan Tedder, who famously produced the ace title track for her last album. Take a listen and tell me what you think:

“It ain’t easy walkin’ these stilettos but somebody gotta do it!”

Feed Limmy verdict: Nonchalant snap.

Mighty snap = this is a hit.
Bounce snap = instantly likeable.
Lightbulb snap = you will need a moment to get into this.
Nonchalant snap = need I say more?
No snap = please cease and decease.

Footnotes:

‘I Am Woman’ is set to his US iTunes on 10 May. The 21-year old will return to American Idol next week to debut the track and she’ll also be supporting NKOTBSB on their North American tour later this month.

    • That would’ve been more appropriate than say Alexis Jordan’s ‘Happiness’, which they went with.
