Should we give the dog a bone and just mark this as an acceptable improvement?
I really tried with The Wanted when they first broke out but there was just no spark to their music whatsoever. [Editor’s note: I thought they almost had you with ‘Heart Vacancy’. Something was muttered about top shelf cheese?]
Here the English five piece returns scrubbed up GQ-ready and this time, they’re threatening a more “club ready” party record with ‘Glad You Came’. The track is co-written and produced by Steve Mac (the man behind their breakthrough single ‘All Time Low’ and The Saturdays‘ new one ‘Notorious’).

That synth line is just begging for a mash up with J.Lo‘s ‘On The Floor’, am I right? There’s something vaguely meandering about the hook that makes it kinda alluring but also altogether underwhelming. ‘Glad You Came’ is probably better suited for the cab ride home as opposed to being the jam to hit up when you’re getting ready for a debaucherous night out.
Feed Limmy verdict: Lightbulb hook.
Mighty snap = this is a hit.
Bounce snap = instantly likeable.
Lightbulb snap = you will need a moment to get into this.
Nonchalant snap = need I say more?
No snap = please cease and decease.
The Wanted‘s ‘Glad You Came’ is due in the UK on 10 July. The video was shot in Ibiza and keeping in party line, there’ll also be an Alex Gaudino dance remix issued.
