This is another major coup for the K-pop super girl group.
Wonder Girls have been steady on the grind trying to crack America for a good year or so now. The foundations are being laid as we speak with more press, appearances and blog love pouring in State side. They’re set to appear on Billboard.com to perform a cover for Mashup Monday and WG fans everywhere can jump online to vote which song these divas should cover.
The options are B.o.B feat. Bruno Mars ‘Nothin’ On You’, The Band Perry‘s ‘Hip To My Heart’ or Miley Cyrus‘ ‘Party In The USA’. Go head and vote here before 25 July.
The Korean pop quintet are still working on their debut English-language album with confirmed songwriting contributions from Wynter Gordon and Claude Kelly (hit writer for Jessie J and Britney Spears). I absolutely cannot wait to hear what they come up with but I hope they don’t compromise their fluorescent pop sound just to fit in.
Wonder Girls first stamped their arrival with an English version of their smash ‘Nobody’ (see video above) last year and scored a lucrative gig touring with The Jonas Brothers. The track did well to peak at #76 on the US Billboard Hot 100 while the follow up, ‘2 Different Tears’ – an 80s glucose-pop piece worthy of Glitter– managed to go #21 on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart.
Check out the ridiculously kitsch video for ‘2 Different Tears’ here:
Are y’all excited to hear what these ladies come up with?
Wonder Girls‘ Mashup Monday cover will go up on Billboard.com on 1 August.
