The kingdom has come. Kanye West and Jay-Z are ready to drop hip hop’s most anticipated album of the year – everybody else, take a seat.
The rap A-listers, known collectively as The Throne for this project, will release Watch The Throne first on iTunes – available at 2pm next Monday in Australia – before launching it in all stores five days later.
The album has been the pair’s labour of love for over a year now, recording in various studios and hotel suites all over the world (check: London, Abu Dhabi, Sydney, Paris, New York), pulling a specially selected crop of esteemed producers like The Neptunes, Swizz Beatz, Mike Dean, Hit-Boy, The RZA and No I.D. Watch The Throne also features the vocal talents of Mrs Carter, Frank Ocean and Curtis Mayfield.
The soulful and sublime new single ‘Otis’ debuted to rave reviews and if that whiff of richness wasn’t quite enough to convince you of the project’s opulence, check out that gold album cover – created by Givenchy‘s acclaimed designer Ricardo Tisci. I expect for this album to be dripping in swag, soul and money in the way Beyonce‘s 4 album does.
