Brian McFadden ‘Come Party/ That’s How Life Goes’ Single Details

The double A-side single. I never quite know how to react to it.

It’s kinda like saying one track is not strong enough to grab the audience, we need two and we definitely need to have some kind of light and shade situation happening so if we don’t win people over with the uptempo – we got the ballad, just in case.

Australia’s Got Talent judge and former boo of Delta Goodrem, Brian McFadden is hitting back with these composite new tracks after the shit storm of his foul “date rape” song ‘Just The Way You Are’ earlier this year.

‘Come Party’ is an uptempo that Brian wrote in LA last December with an upcoming rapper Lavay Cole, while the flip-side ‘That’s How Life Goes’ sees Brian return to balladsville. Both videos were shot in Queensland and they’ll unfold as a two-part production starting with ‘Come Party’ then naturally ending on ‘That’s How Life Goes’.

Footnotes:

Brian McFadden‘s new double A-side single will hit radios and digital outlets tomorrow.

Chart Feed – 07.03.11

Jennifer Lopez‘s ‘On The Floor’ shoots to #2 on our ARIA singles chart this week, making this her first Top 10 hit here since 2005’s ‘Get Right’.  ‘On The Floor’ also entered the US Billboard Hot 100 at #9 this week and good lawd, the last Top 10 hit she had there was when ‘All I Have’ went #1 in 2003. This is return was long overdue.

Bruno Mars scores another Top 10 hit in Australia with ‘The Lazy Song’ shooting from #44 to #10 this week. Fans in the States will be treated to a Bruno and Janelle Monae joint tour in May/June. I want to go to there.

Jessie J‘s universally appealing hit ‘Price Tag’ debuts at #22 in Australia. Score! She’s scheduled for a promo visit in May, so get excited! The song is currently at #2 in the UK where Jessie is literally behind top-seller Adele on both the album and single charts. The sensational Who You Are album debuted at #2 in the UK this week and was released here on Friday.

Jessica Mauboy’s ‘What Happened To Us’ single enters our digital charts at #37 this week. It’s the third single from her decently selling Get ‘Em Girls album and to be honest, I’m not sure how record companies are supposed to market singles anymore. Especially in cases like these where the track is already available to purchase on its own when the album came out months ago. Turnover with new music is quicker than ever. Traditional modes of single releases are becoming more and more redundant because tracks like these can’t possibly compete with the excitement of getting a brand new song.

Read this brill Kylie interview where she admits to being similarly caught out when her label couldn’t handle her Aphrodite single releases.

Architecture in Helsinki‘s electro-buoyant new single ‘Contact High’ debuts at #14 on our Aussie Dance charts this week. I like this very much. It’s like a sweet throwback to Calvin Harris in his prime.

Brian McFadden Douche Supremo‘s ‘Just The Way You Are (Drunk At The Bar)’ enters our dance charts at #12 this week but seriously, the quicker this shit blows over, the better it will be for all of us. Universal Music has scrapped any thought of producing a music video for the track after it drew intense backlash for its “date rape” lyrics. “I like you just the way you are, drunk as shit dancing at the bar. I can’t wait to get you home so we can do some damage…” was apparently written about cheap drunk Delta and how much he adores it when she’s off her face. *Pause* There is no right angle to this song.

Art vs Science‘s The Experiment is the most downloaded and overall best-selling new album in Australia this week. It debuted at #2 on the main ARIA charts behind Michael Buble‘s unstoppable Crazy Love, which was recently reissued to coincide with the tour.

Lykke Li‘s Wounded Rhymes debuts at #9 on our digital album charts this week. Right after Jade reviewed the record on our show two weeks ago, I was close to convinced that I could get into this album. Same strokes alert!

Britney‘s anthemic ‘Till The World Ends’ manages to debut at #55 in the UK after going on sale for just three days. We were up in Sydney partying for Mardi Gras over the weekend when Chris Crocker debuted the track up in Nevermind. It’s one of those stories that are now unfortunately woven into my first impressions of the track.

Olly Murs‘ new single ‘Heart On My Sleeve’ jumps from #68 to #45 this week in the UK. The X Factor spunk was doing a bit of promo earlier in the year when ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’ was issued to Aussie radios but things have gone awfully quiet on a local release front since then. No album drop date here as yet.

Hurts‘ brilliant ‘Sunday’ rises to #57 in the UK. The Naked & Famous keeps doing the Kiwis proud. Their NZ #1 hit ‘Young Blood’ is rising up the UK charts, positioning itself at #64 this week. Elsewhere, McFly‘s ‘That’s The Truth’ moves up to #67. Nice to see them soldiering ahead despite the album Above The Noise flopping hard at #20 when it came out in November. It was albeit a very competitive season and if you weren’t promoing on X Factor, you didn’t stand a chance.

Latest UK pop sensation Clare Maguire‘s debut Light After Dark enters at #7 this week. Hat tip to Nick for introducing me to her breakthrough single ‘The Last Dance’ tonight. I was instantly hooked. It’s kinda like an effortlessly cool Cher record produced by Pet Shop Boys in 2009. Light After Dark is out digitally here on 11 March. She’s the Feed Limmy pick of the week – go investigate:

Alexis Jordan‘s self-titled album debuts at #9 in the UK. I’m really curious to see how it fares on our charts next week. Since it’s release on Friday, the record is currently situated at #29 on our iTunes charts. I’m sure last week’s promo trip did the trick. I mean, if anything, she knows us queens have her back now after she rocked our Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras party. Check out the fabulous Pop Trash Addicts review of Wynter Gordon and Alexis‘ performances that night.

Adele‘s American chart domination has officially begun. Look at the bitch naow. Her magnificent 21 album debuted straight at #1 on the Billboards Hot 200, selling over 352,000 first week copies. We also see the album’s singles all rise up to new peaks – ‘Rolling In the Deep’ (#13), ‘Someone Like You’ (#66) and ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ (#88).

We all know how that ‘Someone Like You’ reign just won’t let up in the UK, right? But strangely enough, over in the Netherlands, they’ve chosen to release ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ as the album’s second single instead. The track has fared well to reach #13 there.

K-pop mega boyband Big Bang‘s Tonight EP debuts at #7 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Chart this week. Incredibly so, it is the first K-pop album to make the US iTunes Top 10 and it’s the only non-English language album in the Top 100. A global take over is definitely in place – Tonight has already made Top 10 in several iTunes stores around the world, see: New Zealand (#5), Finland (#3), Canada (#9) and obviously, #1 in their home country. All this without a single promo done outside Korea. Amaze!

Chart Feed – 27.09.10

Rihanna’s banging new single ‘Only Girl (In The World)’ debuts at #1 in Australia this week, shifting a mind-blowing 22,621 copies to become her fourth [Editor’s note: make that fifth solo] chart-topper here. If these walls could speak, they’d probably tell me to stop blasting this track on loop. Instead, they’re peeling my photos off the wall in silent protest. *Shakes fist*

Glee fans fangurling all over last week’s season premiere have sent the show’s version of ‘Empire State of Mind’, ‘Telephone’ and ‘Billionaire’ into our Top 50. The choir-hood rendition of ‘Empire State of Mind’ debuts at #40 (the original version bullets to #25) and Charice vs Lea Michele’s ‘Telephone’ robo-vamp debuts at #45.

Charice – when she’s engaging in Filipina diva mode and not being the Hello Kitty-totting Sunshine on Glee – scores her first UK crossover. Her ‘Pyramid’ single debuts at #17 this week six months after it first came out in the US. Perhaps the song stands a better chance of succeeding here now with the Glee association. Better yet – Moving Forward ™, Australia – let’s just submit ‘In Love So Deep’ to local radios.

Jessica Mauboy’s glossy-ghetto comeback ‘Get Em Girls’ debuts at #22 on the Australian digital charts this week. While I love clicking my heels to this, I can’t imagine the wider Aussie public snapping to J Mau’s new flo’. On the other hand, if this was Willow Smith’s ‘Whip My Hair’…

Will.i.Am and Nicki Minaj’s Buggles-sampled track ‘Check It Out’ enters at #21 here this week, making this Minaj’s highest charting Aussie single yet. The fine femme-cee has been the talk of the block for months now but what got me throwing the side eye is revelations of her alter egos: Roman Zolanski and Onika (the latter being the I Am of her many Sasha Fierces).

The Potbelleez’s mighty new single ‘Hello’ rockets from #42 to #26 after their rapturous X Factor performance last Monday. I don’t think this show knows its own strength. Can you imagine Scarlett Belle making Top 20 next week after tonight’s elimination gig? Please.

Justice Crew (for those playing at home, see: winners of Australia’s Got Talent) finds their debut single ‘And Then We Dance’ heading back up to #46 on this week’s chart. The hip hop dance troupe will also be rocking the X Factor stage tonight.

Brian McFadden and Delta Goodrem’s disco ballad ‘Mistakes’ has finally cracked our Top 50 this week, selling over 2400 copies to make #41. Time to tape off the scene and bring in the demolition team to knock down that Wall of Soundz, people.

Donna Summer’s new piece ‘To Paris With Love’ and Kylie’s ‘Get Outta My Way’ sashays up the US Dance/Club Plays chart, peaking at #12 and #14 respectively. I’m sorry, my fellow gays but if this is the best we can work with then I might just hibernate for the next three months.

Bruno Mars is gonna be a billionaire, so fucking fast. The Hawaiian producer/songwriter has gone #1 in the US and UK for his new solo single: ‘Just The Way You Are’. You can check out tracks from his forthcoming Doo-Wops & Hooligans album on his Myspace now. I don’t care what this man does from here on in. He who had a hand in writing Sugababes’ ‘Get Sexy’ earns my eternal adoration.

Florence + The Machines celebrates their first US charting single ‘Dog Days Are Over’ this week. The track shot from #93 to #21, no doubt an after effect of the MTV VMAs win. The 2008 single was re-released with a new video this year, which picked up a moon man for Best Art Direction. “The original was so cheap… it was a video camera in a forest with my dad and Marks & Spencer sandwiches,” Flo says of ye olde promo clip.

Kasey Chambers sees her new album Little Bird debut at #3 in Australia this week. This is the country warbler’s sixth studio album and her first one yet since The Captain to not make #1. But stay tuned and keep your banjos in check because it could very well move up the charts in the coming weeks.

Maroon 5’s Hands All Over debuts at #6 in the UK this week, making this the first hit album Robert “Mutt” Lange has produced since his ex-wife Shania Twain’s Up! (STFU, Wikipedia. I refuse to acknowledge Nickelback’s Dark Horse as a valid contribution to pop music). Speaking of my Revlon country pop beauty, where is she hiding out these days? Is she still living off the royalty dimes she collects from drag clubs playing ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman’? Not good enough.

Also, Phil Collins has a new album out and it’s the #1 seller in the UK this week. Don’t tell dad.

Brian McFadden ‘Mistakes’ Music Video: What Really Happened.

Australia’s chart-topping couple Brian McFadden and Delta Goodrem brings the drama in their new music video: ‘Mistakes’.

The disco-ballad is the third single lifted from Brian‘s Wall of Soundz album and if it’s to be believed, this could be the couple’s last duet for a while. So, why not go with a bang?

Director Dan Reisinger – who was behind Bri‘s last two videos – basically gave Delta the domestic scene she had always wanted to do on Neighbours.

Let’s take a moment to recap what sparked the fight that burned it all down…

Delta: (after admiring the ring on her hand) Yes, baby it’s lovely but it’s still not a big as the one you gave Kerry.

Brian: No, that’s not fair. I was on a steady income back then with Westlife.

Delta: Ugh. There you go again… holding on to the past. You just can’t stand me being bigger than you, can you?

Delta: You know, I’ve tried and tried. I’ve put my career on hold to endorse soy milk just so you can have a shot at a solo career again.

Brian: Look. No one said you had to stop releasing music. You’re the one who said you weren’t ready.

Delta: Oh, right. I wasn’t ready. I was the one who had to sacrifice my dreams just so you can have a career. AND YOU KNOW WHAT’S THE BEST PART, BRI?

Delta: YOU DIDN’T EVEN NOTICE. *splash*

Delta: W-w-what are you doing?

Delta: YOU WOULDN’T DARE. No, please! I take it all back! WALL OF SOUNDZ IS THE BEST ALBUM EVAH. JUST LEAVE MY NINA RICCI ALONE.

Delta: *snips* Ugh. You know, Bri… I hope you feel like a bigger man now.

Delta: I hope that made you feel like the bigger popstar too because I’d like to see you earn another one of these.

Delta: WHOOPS.

Delta: There you go, Brian! Your first smash hit.

Delta: (sitting down to play the piano and thinking to herself) Right. Deep breaths, Delta. Think of angels, love and light. You can do this. You can write another ‘Born To Try’ and show this mofo who’s top bitch around here.

Brian: *revs chainsaw* Haha! Kerry and the girls were right. THIS IS A WICKED FATHER’S DAY PRESENT.

Delta: NOOOOOO. Alright, then. Let’s see you write your HITZ without THIS.

Delta: Right. Now that we’re even, can we just get on with it and write another love ballad together?

Brian: Not even close to finish, babe. Say goodbye to Little Ted!

Delta: Hmm. Very nice, Brian, but do you know what time it is?

Delta: THAT’S RIGHT, BABY. Time’s run out.

Delta: NOW SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR FAVOURITE WATCH. *whirr kerk!*

Narrator: Meanwhile, as our desperately destructive couple continues to tear the place down. Little Ted is two seconds away from serving up a hit of his own.

BAYUM!

Narrator voice: Here’s where it all goes downhill. After a sobering realisation of how close he came to losing the love of his life in a petty fit of rage, Brian vows to never make the same mistake again. Or at least, next time he’ll check for embedded electronic devices first before microwaving Delta‘s toys.

And like two crazy kids in love, they’re back together again.

Brian: Oh, honey. Let’s write that love ballad you’ve been talking about. And this time, I’m happy for it to say “Delta featuring Brian“.

Footnotes: Brian McFadden featuring Delta Goodrem‘s ‘Mistakes’ debuted at #83 in Australia this week.

Headlines – 28.08.10

Kylie has teased us with a 15-second preview of her ‘Get Outta My Way’ video. The visual masterpiece – Kylie queens are holding a knife to my throat as I type – is directed by AlexandLiane (the team behind Cheryl Cole‘s stunning ‘Parachute’). Expect the full video to premiere soon. ‘Get Outta My Way’ is out on 27 September.

Jessica Simpson is recording a Christmas album. Every year, the Yuletide fuckery sees some opportunistic has-beens cash in on baby Jesus’ b’day. This year, it’s game on for Mimi, Jessica Simpson and Susan Boyle – the only worthy challenger missing from this race is my favourite drivelling mami, Paula Abdul. Who wouldn’t pay to hear her and MC Skat Kat do ‘Jingle Bell Rock’?

Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow premiere their Brokeback-inspired video ‘Shame’. Now before you carry on unzipping and playing with your south pole, the action really stops once the shirts come off.

Michelle Williams will be competing in the next season of the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing. While Ms Kelly is busy infiltrating the airwaves and dance charts, Michelle is wasting no time getting her name back out there after her successful stint on Broadway and West End’s Chicago. Knock ’em dead, Michelle!

Meanwhile, Brandy is set to appear on the America’s Dancing With The Stars, with the line up expected to be announced on Monday. So two of my favourite – and oft-neglected – R&B singers have signed to shimmy and cha-cha their way back to prominence. Merciful Mary, is there any other way?

Brian McFadden has announced that there’ll be no more duets with his fiance, Delta Goodrem. The pair recently reunited on song for his disco-ballad ‘Mistakes’ but B Mac told The Music Network that they have since veered off in opposing musical directions. “She’s going back to her roots again. She’s gone more piano-oriented, which is almost ‘anti’ what’s happening at the moment in the industry,” he said. That’s because our Delta don’t depend on fads to sell records. ‘Mistakes’ is out on 17 September.

Sia‘s label has re-released her 2007 live EP, Lady Croissant, featuring performances of ‘Breathe Me’, ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’ and ‘Lentil’. It’s great for fans revisiting her back catalogue and all, but I would’ve preferred it if they had made her latest We Meaning You live album more readily available. In any case, you can preview Lady Croissant here.

Kimbra has me hypnotised with her debut single ‘Setle Down’. Guess who’s just run away with my vote of 2010 artist to watch for? Pour yourself a glass of martini and dig into more of Kimbra‘s neo-soul stylings here.

Grab your free download of ‘Settle Down’.

That pesky Katy Perry claims her second Australian #1 single this week with ‘California Gurls’. She’s going around hyping it as the ‘Empire State of Mind’ for the West Coast. But sweetheart, ‘Empire State of Mind’ was about reaching for your dreams, ‘California Gurls’ is all “Daisy Dukes and sand in stilettos”. Go figure.

Fellow gays, we’re holding an emergency meeting. Kylie’s new single ‘All The Lovers’ has entered our charts at #14 this week and that’s hardly acceptable. The song’s admittedly not a Kylie classic but it could at least go bottom half of the Top 10, right? Ms Minogue has promised a homecoming promo visit for Aphrodite – this will be the first time she flies back to premiere an album in over 10 years. Meanwhile, ‘All The Lovers’ debuts at #4 in the UK this week.

Brian McFadden‘s ‘Chemical Rush’ fizzes in at #18 here this week. I wish Mr Goodrem all the best with flogging his album of dated Auto-Tune pop across the globe. Brace yourself America, you won’t know what hit you.

There must be more than a handful of Sarah McLachlan fans here in Australia. Shock! The Canadian songstress’s new album Laws of Illusion debuts at #12 here this week, outcharting her last studio album Afterglow – which only made #22 back in 2003. The only thing I remembered from that period was the brilliant videos she filmed for ‘Fallen’ and ‘Stupid’.

Robyn‘s ‘Dancing On My Own’ has debuted at #8 in the UK this week, making it only her fourth UK Top 10 hit ever. Meanwhile, the new album Body Talk Pt. 1 comes in at #47. Let’s hope the promo singles – ‘Fembot’, ‘Dancehall Queen’ and ‘None of Dem (feat. Royksopp)’ – all somehow find their way onto the mainstream or club charts because I’m pretty sure I read Robyn saying ‘Dancing On My Own’ is the only official single off Pt. 1.

Kelly Rowland has cracked the UK Top 20! High fives all around. ‘Commander’ leapt from #52 to #17 this week. Meanwhile, I’m in no mood to play games. Ms Kelly had better not scrapped ‘Shake Them Haters Off’ as her next single in favour of ‘Rose Coloured Glasses’ and ‘Grown Ass Woman’.

The curtain closes once all the hardcore Xtina fans leave with their copy of Bionic. That’s the only way you can make sense of Christina Aguilera‘s new album doing a death drop from #1 to #29 on the UK charts this week. You just know somebody’s getting fired if this album falls out of the Top 30 in just three weeks.

Jewel‘s new country album Sweet and Wild debuts at #11 in the US this week, selling over 31,000 copies. You know what? I’m not sure if I want to know about Jewel‘s music any more. That sentence looks more awful every time I read it back but the truth is, I thought I was strong enough to handle Country Music Jewel. Just… give me time.

Hanson is still kicking – much to my surprise. The brothers saw their new LP Shout It Out debut at #30 in the US this week. Meanwhile Clay Aitken‘s Tried & True album of covers failed to stick around, dropping from a #9 debut to #47 this week. He might have better luck launching this in Australia – we have a huge market for Nanna music. Just ask David Campbell and Human Nature.

Not that Mothers’ Day presents should be about what I want, but I wish I had picked Tina Arena’s Live: The Onstage Collection over Celine Dion’s concert DVD now. I’m sure mum would’ve preferred an intimate and engaged performance over a grand stage with travelators. Mama Tina’s live CD/DVD combo debuted at #22 in Australia this week while Mama Celine’s package entered the UK charts at #11.

It’s clear no one’s buying this shit. Brian McFadden’s Wall of Soundz is set to drop out of our Top 50 after just three weeks on the shelves. The album slipped from a barely adequate debut of #27 to #45 this week. Brian recently tweeted that he’s threatening a Wall of Soundz 2Landfill department, you have been warned.

If no one’s downloading Christina Aguilera’s new single, they’re certainly buying them in stores. ‘Not Myself Tonight’ has finally charted in Australia, entering at #22 this week and we can probably attribute sales to physical copies. It is the sixth best selling single in stores this week. ‘Not Myself Tonight’ also debuted at #12 in the UK this week.

Rihanna‘s ‘Te Amo’ debuts at #35 in Australia this week. The video was reportedly shot in France last month featuring French supermodel Laetitia Casta. Is it too much to ask for a lesbian scene?

It’s been a 10-week long crescendo but Alexandra Burke’s ‘All Night Long’ has finally cracked the UK Top 10 this week. The single currently sits at #8, matching the peak of ‘Broken Heels’. I wonder if Simon Cowell’s noticed. Probably not. Between his multi-million dollar cash cow SuBo and world domination with X Factor, he hasn’t got time for the likes of ABurke.

I’ve got a horrible sinking feeling about this. Much like the feeling you get when your favourite goldfish goes belly up on you. Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Bittersweet’ is floundering on the UK charts – and you know to admit defeat when your single tumbles from a feeble debut of #25 to #54 in a week.

Lady Gaga‘s The Remix compilation debuts at #3 in the UK this week. While I love knowing there’s two different tracklistings out there, it’s annoying that two of my favourite remixes on the Japanese edition – Crookers‘ ‘Telephone’ remix and Skrillex‘s ‘Bad Romance’ mix – have been omitted from the international version. The Remix sits at #13 in Australia this week.

Keane’s Night Train EP has debuted at #1 this week, making it the band’s fourth consecutive chart topper on the UK album charts.

Toni Braxton‘s Pulse didn’t do so bad after all, selling over 54,000 copies in its first week to debut at #9 in the US. She must be jizzing herself because all three singles have pretty much tanked in the States. Pulse debuts at #28 in the UK this week.

I don’t know a thing about Josh Turner but judging by his hunky smile on the album cover, I think I’d like to know more. His album Haywire (see above) leapt from #94 to #74 on the US charts this week. I’m gonna say looks had nothing to do with it.

Eminem’s ‘Not Afraid’ has debuted on top of the US charts this week. Believe it or not, this is only Slim’s third US #1 single ever. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve heard an Eminem song since ‘Mockingbird’ and ‘Ass Like That’ – I’ve booty bounced to the latter on numerous occasions at Heaven’s Door.

LaRoux is at the cusp of cracking the US Top 20 – ‘Bulletproof’ rose to #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Elsewhere, Macy Gray‘s comeback single ‘Beauty In The World’ moved up to #7 on the US Dance charts.
